An American Profile story an annual community or regional event, a unique business venture, a hometown hero, an historic town monument, even a well-known celebrity whose hometown ties are still very strong. The piece must be a feature story of a positive nature (tone and style should be warm and friendly), as our editorial perspective is to bring good news to the forefront. Length: Typically, story lengths are 450 words for features of less than a page, 650 words for a one-page feature and 1,200 words for a cover story. Art/Photo Needs: See the Photography Guidelines Payment: Typically, we pay $650 for a two-page cover story that may include a sidebar; $325 for a one-page feature story; and $200 for short features of less than one page.
