We also request permission to publish an excerpt on the web site. Needs: Storyteller is a general fiction magazine that also publishes genre stories. However, some genre stories can be too Length: * Stories must be original works of fiction between 2,000 and 6,000 words. We occasionally accept reprints, but not from the web or from well-known magazines. Payment: ½¢ per published word for original stories, ¼¢ per published word for reprints (our count), plus 2 contributor copies. Authors may purchase extra copies of the issue in which they appear for $5.00 each (16% discount). How to Submit: * No simultaneous submissions. * No electronic or faxed submissions. * Use standard manuscript format (indented paragraphs, double-spaced, wide margins, etc.). * Your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address should appear in the upper right-hand corner of the first page, along with the word count. * A brief cover letter is preferred, but not requisite. Response Time: If you want to hear back from us, enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.). We occasionally mark manuscripts, so you may want to make it a large S.A.S.E. Manuscripts sent from outside Canada should include sufficient CANADIAN return postage or International Reply Coupons. Writers submitting from outside Canada may require 3 IRCs or more, depending on weight of the ms. We try to return manuscripts quickly, but stories that miss a deadline may be held over for the next one; this can take up to six months.
